Public Chicago - Chicago, IL

Chicago is a movie lover’s town, in part thanks to director and native son John Hughes, whose string of films based there in the 80s have cemented the Windy City’s spot in cinematic history. At the 285-room Public Hotel, let relaxation and comfort be the star of the show. The hotel’s posh screening room features tufted couches, wood-paneled walls, and cozy fur throws, creating one of the most glamorous movie watching experiences you’ll ever have. Wander in to see what’s on screen, or direct your own mini film festival for family and friends during the hotel’s Sunday afternoon Screening Room Takeover.

Best Western Movie Manor - Monte Vista, Colorado

Take a road trip through the mountains of Colorado and spend the night at the Best Western Movie Manor, a motor lodge meets drive-in theater that recalls simpler days, back when screen time had nothing to do with a tablet or smartphone and tinder was just something you used to start fires. This 59-room throwback sits adjacent to the Star Drive In, an adorably kitschy attraction that plays films on two screens nightly from May through September (recently featured flicks include Finding Dory and Independence Day). If you love the movies but don’t want to venture outside, then you’re in luck: Most rooms include a prime view of the screens that you can see through the picture windows.

Crosby Street Hotel - New York, New York

Staying at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood will put you right in the middle of the action. In fact, some 336 movies were shot in the Big Apple just last year, so there’s a good chance you’ll stumble across a set (or two) while you're out and about. Try to spot NYC on the big screen while catching a movie at the hotel’s dreamy 99-seat state-of-the-art theater, complete with cushy, tangerine-colored seats and 3D capabilities. On Sundays, attend the hotel’s Film Club, a public event that includes dinner, cocktails and movies like Demolitions, Everybody Wants Some!! and Green Room.

The Curtis - Denver, Colorado

Attention pop culture junkies: The Curtis is the place for you. This 336-room hotel in Denver features thematically designed floors, each with a hyper-themed room that riffs on a different motif. In the Ghostbusters room on floor 13 (or, as they call it, the horror floor), framed photos of the Ecto-1 hang above the bed while Slimer keeps watch from a nearby table. Have to head out early the next day? Book a wake-up call from the likes of Yoda, Hannibal Lecter or even Mr. T. Before catching a movie at a nearby theater, stock up at the Five & Dime, a candy and toy store in the lobby that features a bit of retro flair. When you’re heading back for the night, keep a look out for the hotel’s beacon of sorts -- the leg lamp from A Christmas Story will light the way for you from one of the windows above.

Starting rate: $170
