If you're going to make a girl-targeted shirt that suggests the wearer should be *cleaning* you might want to prepare yourself for some backlash.

Target Australia has been on the receiving end of criticism over a children's "Batgirl" shirt which features a to-do list on the front. The first two on the list? Dryclean cap wash batmobile.

The pink shirt has attracted the ire of Ninac Ollins, who is asking Target why they're selling a shirt that reinforces unwanted stereotypes about women.

"I'm insulted that you present a future where our daughters need to complete their 'home duties' before they can go out and save the world. We know that working mothers still do more housework than their spouses, we don't need you to perpetuate this inequity," she wrote.

A representative from Target Australia, which has no connection to the U.S. version of Target, responded to the Facebook post shortly after.

"Hello everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. It absolutely wasn't our intention to cause any offence with this shirt, so we really appreciate you all getting in touch with us to let us know your thoughts. We've taken this feedback on board, and sincerely apologise for any disappointment caused," they wrote.

Mashable has reached out to Target Australia for comment. In the meantime, it's probably best for everyone to lay off those sexist tropes. Forever.
