I was born in LA. One of my earliest memories is Kirk Gibson's legendary home run in 1988. And I was heartbroken when the Dodgers lost the World Series to the Astros this year.

But damn, I'm happy for the people of Houston. They came out in full force on Friday for the Astros victory parade. And nothing represents the way the city has come together like these fans in a parking structure trying to get a lady her hat back.

They don't give up when they drop it the first time. Or the second time. Talk about resilience. You can watch the weirdly riveting video below:

So yeah, after enduring Hurricane Harvey -- which killed at least 82 people -- Houston was ready to celebrate. They absolutely mobbed downtown for the city's first major sports victory since the Houston Rockets won back-to-back NBA championships in the 1990s.

One fan, 47-year-old LaShawn Harris, summed up the spirit of the day to the Associated Press.

"We needed this win real bad for the city of Houston. Harvey is gone. Harvey is smashed. Harvey is no more. It is all about today."
