The butt pass is the NBA's hottest new play
Andrew Goudelock might be the quickest thinker in the NBA.
The Houston Rockets guard was supposed to inbound the ball Friday night after a made basket by the Phoenix Suns. But all his teammates abandoned him, jogging back down the court to play offense.

Except for one teammate who hung back: Josh Smith. But Smith wasn't available, either. He was doubled over in pain after a poke to the eye.
So what did Goudelock do? Did he call timeout, wasting a precious strategy session? Did he panic and heave the ball into play haphazardly? Did he fail to inbound the ball and take the five-second turnover?
Well, the answer is D -- none of the above.
Instead, Goudelock calmly tossed a bounce-pass to Smith's butt, with Smith apparently unaware it was coming, got the ball back and then brought the rock up court like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Sure, the sneaky play is no butt fumble -- but Smith did put the ass back in assist to our mirthful delight.
