How to cancel your Netflix account

Whether you're tired of price hikes, trying to scale back your streaming service subscriptions, or just straight up don't watch a ton of Netflix anymore, there comes a time when you might want to part ways with the streaming giant and cancel your account. Luckily, you've come to the right place.

Below, you'll find a step-by-step guide on how to cancel your Netflix account from your desktop computer or from your phone, as well as advice on how to delete your account entirely after the cancellation.

How to cancel your Netflix account on desktop

  • Netflix account

Step 1: Log in to your Netflix account.

You can do this through Netflix's website.

Step 2: Click on your profile icon, then click it again in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Select "Account" from the drop-down menu that appears.

Doing this will bring you to your account page.

Step 4: Click "Manage Membership."

You can also click "Membership" on the menu to the right. Both options will lead to the same place.

Step 5: Scroll to the bottom and click "Cancel Membership."

Step 6: Click the plus sign next to "Cancel." Then, click "Finish Cancellation."

Your account will be canceled at the end of the current billing period, and permanently deleted 24 months after cancellation.


You May Also Like

If you choose to restart your account within 24 months after cancellation, you will still be able to access your old profile, viewing history, recommendations, ratings, account details, gameplay history, and game saves.

However, if you want to delete your account immediately, contact [email protected] from the email address used for your Netflix account.

How to cancel your Netflix account on your phone

You cannot delete your Netflix account directly in the app, but you can delete it from your phone's browser.

Step 1: Open the Netflix app and log into your account.

Step 2: Click on your profile icon.

It's in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

Step 3: Click on the three horizontal lines in the top right corner of the screen.

This will take you to your account page.

Step 4: Select "Account" from the menu that comes up.

Step 5: Scroll down and click "Cancel Membership."

It's after your billing details.

Step 6: Click the plus sign next to "Cancel." Then, click "Finish Cancellation."

As with canceling on desktop, your account will be canceled at the end of the current billing period, and your information will be automatically deleted 24 months after the account has been canceled.

If you choose to restart your account within 24 months after cancellation, you will still be able to access your old profile and viewing preferences.

However, if you want to delete your account immediately, contact [email protected] from the email address used for your Netflix account.
