Here's how you can finally catch Ditto in 'Pokémon Go'

He's here!

LONDON -- Pokémon Go fans, rejoice: after nearly five months of searching, Ditto -- that little blob dude who can transform into other Pokémon -- has finally been discovered.

Okay, so a small caveat -- Ditto, who has long been a mysterious absence in the game, isn't just a very good hider. He was only actually added recently.

After the most recent app update over the weekend, The Silph Road did a data mine and discovered that code relating to the elusive critter had been added to the game. On Tuesday, they discovered that his trademark move -- Transform -- had been activated.

It wasn't long before sightings of captured Dittos began to pop up on Twitter and Reddit...

From the sounds of it, Ditto is more a Pokémon that you stumble across rather than one you necessarily track down.

People sharing screengrabs of their captures and discussing the new Pokémon on Reddit all have a similar story; you catch what you think is another random Pokémon -- Pidgey, Rattata, etc. -- and after it's safely ensconced in your ball a little "Oh?" message pops up.

Seconds later, the screen goes purple and the creature transforms into Ditto.

Here's a video of Ditto being captured.

And look, here he is in all his smiley glory, facing off against another Ditto at the gym.

For more information on Ditto -- including spawns and battling -- there's a pretty thorough thread on Reddit here.

In a nutshell, though, it sounds as though Ditto is now available worldwide, and can pop up in the same way any normal Pokémon spawns -- the only difference is, he'll be in disguise.
