Alexa is a family-friendly device, so she doesn't swear by default, but there are couple of workarounds to make her curse.

Alexa is Amazon's voice-operated virtual assistant. Depending on what devices you connect to Alexa, she can perform a variety of functions from reading you the news to turning off the lights. While Alexa is designed to be a useful tool, that doesn't mean you can't have a little fun by tricking her into swearing.

Here are a few ways to make Alexa swear:

Announcement Function

The announcement function on Alexa broadcasts your message across all Alexa-enabled devices in your home. There are two ways to use the announcement function on Alexa, one in which she broadcasts what you say in your voice exactly how you said it, and one in which she reads out a message you typed in the app in her voice.

To have Alexa repeat your explicit message say "Alexa announce," followed by your message. However, it is tricker if you are trying to hear Alexa swear in her voice. Most swear words are blocked on Alexa and she will typically respond to a request for her to say a swear word with "I'd rather not say anything rude." To work around this try using words that phonetically sound like swear words or replacing the vowels in swear words with vs or accented vowels. For example, you can type use "fvck" instead of "fuck". Here is how to use to announcement function:

1. Open Alexa App on your device

The Routines function allows you to have Alexa complete an action when you trigger it. Like with the Announcement function you can type out what Alexa says, so you can use phonetically similar words and altered swear words to get Alexa to swear. Here is how to set up a routine:

1. Open Alexa App

2. Tap "More" (the three lines)
