Instagram is a bit of an anomaly in the social media marketplace in that it doesn't offer a native option to share other users' content. While you can easily retweet on Twitter, or hit the "Share" button on Facebook, Instagram gives you no such choices. Instagram maintains this is a strategy to protect copyright and content, but if your only motive is to share something awesome with your followers, it can be an annoying restraint.

We've got two workarounds to allow you to repost other Instagram users' posts.

What You Need
  • Instagram App
  • Smartphone

Step 1: Step 1

To take a screengrab on a Windows PC, press the "PrtScn" button on the upper-right side of your keyboard. You can then paste the screengrab into your image editing software of choice.

Step 2: Step 2

To take a screengrab on a Mac, press and hold shift, command, and 3.

Step 3: Step 3

To get a screengrab on an iPhone that has Face ID, you need to press and then release the side button and volume up button.

Step 4: Step 4

On an iPhone with a home button, you need to simultaneously press and then release the home button and the side button or sleep/wake button, depending on your model.

Step 5: Step 5

Most Android phone users can generate a screengrab by pressing the power and volume down buttons at the same time.

Step 6: Step 6

If that doesn't work, press and hold the power button for a few seconds. Then tap "Screenshot."

Step 7: Final Step

Once you have the screengrab edited and ready to go, you can simply create a new Instagram post — but again, don't forget to credit the original creator of the content.

It goes without saying that you should obviously give the original poster credit by @ mentioning them, and in an ideal world you should also reach out and expressly ask for permission before you create the post.

How to repost on Instagram using a third-party service

The other option open to you is to use a third-party app or service that will allow you to repost on Instagram.
