And it's cheaper than you'd expect.

Huawei's MateBook X Pro, one of the few Windows-based laptops that I find to be a worthy alternative to Apple's MacBook Pro, is now available in the U.S.

Rest of the world be warned, though: The U.S. price tags on this Windows laptop are infuriatingly lower than they are elsewhere.

In the U.S., the 13.9-inch MateBook X Pro starts at $1,199.99, which will get you an Intel Core i5-8250U processor, integrated graphics, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. For $1,499.99, you'll get the Intel Core i7-8550U processor, NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics, 16GB RAM, and 512GB of storage.

For comparison, in Europe these two models have inexplicably higher price tags: €1,499 ($1,844) and €1,899 ($2,336).

While this will undoubtedly anger some of Huawei's current and potential customers in Europe, in the U.S. this makes the MateBook X Pro an amazingly good deal. For example, a similarly specced 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro costs $1,499 and $1,999, respectively.

Besides being an all-around solid machine with great specs for the price, the Huawei MateBook X Pro has two very distinctive features: a pop-up camera hidden in the keyboard and incredibly thin bezels on all four sides of the screen, resulting in a 91% screen-to-body ratio.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro arrives today at Amazon, Newegg, and Microsoft’s online store. If the super-low prices aren't enough, Huawei also gives a $300 gift card to any customer to purchases the MateBook X Pro online from each of these stores. The MateBook X Pro will arrive in Microsoft Stores on May 23.
