Get an exclusive look at Hulu and AwesomenessTV's new series 'Freakish'

LOS ANGELES -- Hulu is getting ready for Halloween with a new series geared toward Gen Z viewers.

Freakish, from AwesomenessTV, follows group of students at a small-town high school who have to fight for survival after a predatory mutant freaks take over.

Mashable got an exclusive look at the trailer (above) and anew poster (below).

The 10-episode series, created by Beth Szymkowski, will premiere on Hulu on Oct. 10.

It stars a handful of digital influencers as well as traditional celebrities, including: Leo Howard (Kickin’ It, Shake it Up, Conan the Barbarian), Liza Koshy (Boo! A Madea Halloween), Adam Hicks (Zeke and Luther, Pair of Kings), Aislinn Paul (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Heroes Reborn), Tyler Chase (The Walking Dead), Meghan Rienks (Mr. Student Body President, Oscar’s Hotel), Melvin Gregg (The Land, Class) and Hayes Grier (ABC's DWTS). Additional cast members include Chad L. Coleman (The Walking Dead, The Wire), Mary Mouser (Scandal, Body of Proof) and Chachi Gonzales (4.8 million fans).

The series is executive produced by Brian Robbins, Shelley Zimmerman, Beth Szymkowski, Matt Lewis, Chris Grismer and produced by Brin Lukens and Scott Levine.

Hulu will host a virtual #FreakWeek to promote the show.

As part of that, Tumblr will debut two new episodes of the Halloween event series from AwesomenessTV on a custom Freakish Tumblr page every day for a period of five days (Oct 10 - 14).

Following #FreakWeek, the series will remain available to view in its entirety only on Hulu.

Hulu also has the exclusive U.S. streaming video on-demand rights to two feature-length documentaries from Awesomeness Films: Tyler Oakley's Snervous and mockumentary/concert special Janoskians: Untold and Untrue.

Already, the platform is home to YouTuber Freddie Wong's Rocketjump: The Show. The platform is also backing Wong's new scripted sci-fi series.
