For almost over a week, all eyes have been focused on the Bahamas, and rightly so.

Dorian, a Category 5 hurricane when it made contact with the islands, has caused a staggering amount of suffering and devastation.

The slow-moving nature of Dorian allowed the tropical cyclone to inflict catastrophic damage as it crept over the northern Bahamas and eventually stalled directly on top of Grand Bahama Island for 24 hours on Monday.

The hurricane impacted South Carolina on Thursday, leaving thousands without power. On Friday morning, the cyclone, now a Category 1 storm, made landfall on North Carolina's Cape Hatteras.

Dorian is expected to move along southeastern New England Friday night and Saturday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.
