While it's definitely not recommended that sports enthusiasts hit the ocean with a hurricane approaching, the combination of wind and wave really does create some ideal conditions for some water sports.

Hurricane Matthew is expected to hit the east coast of Florida through Friday evening, leaving most residents preparing for a potentially catastrophic event. However, one kite surfer in Fort Lauderdale used high winds winds before the brunt of the storm hit for an excuse to do a little kite surfing Thursday afternoon.

WSVN 7 was on the beach in Fort Lauderdale when they captured one kite surfer catch a huge gust of wind, sending him flying through the air.
