People are mocking the #IceCreamChallenge with hilarious videos

So many layers to this saga.

Turns out, the #IceCreamChallenge isn't all bad.

By now, many of you probably know that a video of a young woman who opened a tub of Blue Bell ice cream in a Texas food store, licked it, and returned the tub to the freezer, went viral. Several people unfortunately recorded themselves copying the prank, and things got so out of hand that some stores added additional security to their frozen food aisles.

But we're pleased to announce that there's another, more wholesome layer to the #IceCreamChallenge saga — the people who are mocking it.

Many tweets that use the #IceCreamChallenge hashtag include lighthearted videos that thankfully don't feature people tampering with ice cream.

Instead, they show people mocking the absurdly gross and dangerous challenge by reorganizing freezers, performing fake-out licks, and actually purchasing ice cream and walking outside the store with it before licking. There are even videos that show people buying ice cream normally. Can you imagine?

The ice cream licking will hopefully come to an end now that authorities have warned people to steer clear of the prank, but if you're still concerned here are some tips for purchasing.

Try to go for a brand that protects the ice cream container with a safety seal. You can also make an effort to get your carton from the back of the freezer. And if you're really desperate you can cut the top layer of the carton off. That's dedication.

Good luck out there, ice cream lovers.
