Trips to IKEA are regularly marked with impulse buys, but you could be riding one of your purchases home next time around.

The Swedish furniture chain has released its first flat pack piece of transportation, the SLADDA, a bicycle designed for easy maintenance and city riding.

It'll be available in Australia from September, however in IKEA's home country of Sweden they'll get to ride one of these from August.

The SLADDA's frame is all-aluminum, with a driving belt that's designed to be rust resistant, with adjustable handlebars, plus a double kick stand so it can be steady when loaded.

It comes semi-flat packed, with the rear wheel connected to the frame. All you'll need to do is attach the handlebars, connect the front wheel and off you go. Assembly time takes 30 minutes, according to IKEA.

Priced at A$799 (US$616) in Australia, it's certainly not the most affordable city bike around. However, it'll be cool to brag about your bicycle being from IKEA, until everyone has one of course.

You can set yourself apart with a set of accessories to go with it, including racks for the front and rear, a rear bag, and a matching helmet.

It's probably not the type of bike you'd be doing wheelies at the local skate park, however.
