Electric shock incidents lead to Ikea recall on Gothem lamp bases

Customers can seek a full refund without proof of purchase.

SINGAPORE -- More bad news for Swedish furniture store Ikea's lighting department.

Just a little over a month after Ikea recalled two of its ceiling lamps, the company has been forced to issue another recall on its Gothem lamp bases, after they received reports of electric shocks incidents.

The statement posted on the Ikea Singapore Facebook page on Wednesday stated that there was a risk of electric shock caused by damaged cables in the lamp bases.

So far, Ikea has revealed that two customers and one of its own workers suffered electric shocks from the Gothem lamp bases.

The Gothem range consists of three models -- two table lamps and one floor lamp.

Although the products are currently not sold in Singapore, global customers can seek a full refund at any Ikea store without proof of purchase.
