Hold onto your youth, Ikea sells skateboards now

It's part of an Instagram-friendly "lifestyle collection" that includes DJ tables and hoodies.

Desperate to hold onto your fleeting youth? Ikea's got your back with a new collection of skateboards, hoodies, and furniture with a streetwear model aesthetic.

Dubbed SPÄNST, the collection is the brainchild of designers Chris Stamp and Maja Ganszyniec. SPÄNST includes a black skateboard rack, clear acrylic shoe boxes, and even a $90 skateboard.

It's all super Instagram-friendly, of course.

SPÄNST, according to Ikea, isn't just a collection of home furnishings. It's a lifestyle.

"Fashion and furniture are different animals, but the creative process is similar," Stamp, whose background is in fashion design, says in Ikea's SPÄNST announcement. "With this collection I've learned that it's worth pushing the limits."

After all, no bachelor pad (or Instagram influencer's abode) would be complete without a $35 monochromatic basketball hoop or an uncomfortably tall minimalist desk that doubles as a normal-height DJ table.

Chris Stamp, who's based in LA, says, "I grew up surfing and skating. Here in So Cal, skating is more than transportation. It's a culture."

Inspired by skaters and "modern youth culture," SPÄNST also includes a series of hoodies, tees, and hats.

We still can't figure out how this LED "light stick" factors into "youth culture" though. It's literally a stick that lights up. That's all it does.

The collection is available for worldwide purchase on May 1, but the Ikea in Burbank, California, will host a collection pop-up event on Thursday night — complete with one of those mini skateboard ramps you've always wanted but your mom never let you get.
