Perhaps it's fate that today is (almost) the Fourth of July, and you will once again be seeing Jeff Goldblum in a film about squid-like aliens hellbent on destroying earth.

Or, perhaps it was just time for a much-needed sequel to Independence Day. Whatever the case, Jeff Goldblum is here to get your butts in the theater seats.

Independence Day: Resurgence's Jeff Goldblum and Jessie Usher stopped by to show Mashable Goldblum's latest project -- writing a kid-friendly version of the 1996 original blockbuster, so new audiences can get caught up quickly.
