Tens of thousands of soccer fans in Indonesia jostled to get tickets to a match, resulting in several of them injured in the crush.

On Tuesday, a massive crowd stood outside a military base in Jakarta to buy tickets to the AFF Championship finals between its home country's national team and Thailand, happening Wednesday.

The line started to form overnight, but eventually became a disorganised mob, Detik reports.

People were let into the gate at intervals, with army personnel struggling to bar the entrance to people pushing through.

The finals happen in two parts, one on Wednesday in Indonesia, and another match on Saturday, Dec. 17, in Thailand.

The venue for Wednesday, Pakansari Stadium in West Java, has a seating capacity for 30,000 spectators, but local reports noted that many of the people who came to buy tickets failed to get any.

Liputan6 says 10,000 tickets were sold within the first two hours.

Organisers reportedly tried selling tickets just a day before the match commenced, in order to prevent scalpers from having enough time to scoop up tickets for resale.

CNN Indonesia carried a video of the mob.

Here's another look at the crowd that already formed the night before.

People who got their tickets are celebrating on Instagram with selfies.

Tough luck for this guy, though.
