Action camera company Insta360 has collaborated with partners to launch brand new drone brand Antigravity. Announced on Monday, Antigravity states it will offer the world's first aerial drone with inbuilt 360-degree video capture — and we won't have long to wait.

Set to be unveiled in August, few details about Antigravity's debut drone have yet been released. However, the company has stated that the drone will weigh less than 249g, which is about as heavy as the DJI Mini 4K or Mini 4 Pro. Antigravity's drone will also capture 360-degree footage at 8K resolution, just like Insta360's recent X5 camera launched in April.

Antigravity notes that it has placed emphasis on making its drones intuitive to operate for beginners as well as experts, ensuring users don't need extensive experience with such gadgets.

"Ease of use is the starting point for all Antigravity products," Antigravity said in a press release. "It's for everyone who's ever wanted a drone, but felt it would be too big of an investment for something they may never be able to use to its full potential."

A videography-focused drone brand, Antigravity states that its devices will include safety features such as the capability to detect whether it's carrying a payload, which is intended to "prevent misuse or unauthorized modifications."

The company further announced the Antigravity Hub, a co-creation program inviting users to offer ideas and feedback on its products. The company states that people who offer suggestions which inspire new products or features "will be rewarded accordingly."

Insta360 previously appealed to drone videographers with 2022's Insta360 Sphere. Designed to be mounted onto a DJI Mavic Air 2 or 2S, the camera enabled users to film 360 aerial video without the drone being visible at all. Now Antigravity hopes to offer such capabilities independently, aiming to dominate the skies and "redefine aerial exploration and storytelling."
