Apple finally announced when folks could get access to iOS 17. The company said during its big event on Tuesday that the latest version of the software would be available to all via a free upgrade on Monday, Sept.18.

That is a welcome development for Apple users who have looked forward to the new version of the software since it was announced at Apple's WWDC event in June. It should completely revamp the way your iPhone works.

A version of iOS 17 was made available to beta testers, but now the full version will go out to everyone. There are some key features folks are excited about.

iOS 17 promises an upgrade to FaceTime, for instance, that allows you to leave video voicemails. A new tool called NameDrop will let users share contact info just by holding phones close together. For the bookish or organized people out there, there's an entirely new journal app, as well. And, perhaps most importantly to those of us who like to curse, Apple promised an improved autocorrect — one that should learn you don't want to say the word "ducking."

When iOS 17 drops on the launch date of Sept. 18, all you need to do is update your software to access all the new features.
