Tired of being asked to join terrible Wi-Fi networks? You’re in luck.

Users have noticed the latest iOS 11 beta release includes an automated "Auto Join Disabled" feature, which stops your phone from connecting to spotty public Wi-Fi sources while you're out and about.

According to Cult of Mac, it seems like the feature will give up joining the network if it can't get an internet connection, or if it doesn't provide a reliable signal.

Currently, you can switch off "Auto Join" on captive Wi-Fi networks (public networks which require a login) by tapping on the blue "I" button next to a network on your iPhone's Wi-Fi settings screen. The new feature appears to automate the process for you.

It's particularly useful when you're traveling through areas with a trove of public Wi-Fi networks, like a shopping mall, universities, or an airport.

It's similar to Apple's Wi-Fi Assist and Samsung's Smart Network Switch in that it'll get you off a dodgy connection--but this feature will actually prevent you from joining in the first place.

Now, if only Apple could let us change the priority of Wi-Fi networks in the iOS settings, just like you can on a Mac, that'd be real nice.
