LONDON -- Bad news if you were planning on hitting the iPhone queue tomorrow.

Despite the expense and the lack of a headphone jack everyone's been whinging about, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are completely sold out in the UK -- in every colour.

So the lucky souls who reserved their phones will be able to collect them from stores but there won't be any available for walk-in purchases.

However, the Apple Watch Series Two will be available to walk in and buy, should you feel the need to spend some sterling on instant Apple gratification.

This unusual situation comes despite iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus prices being quite a bit more expensive in the UK than elsewhere. The substantial increase has been attributed to the falling pound, whose value fell sharply after the Brexit vote in June.

Worldwide, the iPhone 7 supply situation is a little better, but still pretty dire.

A company rep told Mashable via email that the iPhone 7 Plus was completely sold out worldwide, as is the Jet Black iPhone 7, but "limited quantities" of the other colours — silver, gold, rose gold, and black — would be available.

"Customers can continue to order all models in all colors on apple.com. We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible," Apple said in its statement.

It's hard to immediately determine what this means for iPhone sales. It certainly seems like demand has exceeded Apple's expectations in the UK if they are so concerned with ensuring that they can deliver enough iPhones to fill the online pre-orders.

It's also difficult to say what this means for the legendary queues outside Apple stores on iPhone launch day. If there isn't the thrill of the hunt of being the first to get a new model iPhone, will fans even bother leaving the house?
