New Zealand's prime minister delivered a sick burn to Donald Trump

New Zealand's new prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, has really hit the ground running.

Although the PM started her term with the tragic loss of her internet-beloved cat, Paddles, things are comin' up Milhouse after an apparent little dig at U.S. President Donald Trump.

In an interview with New Zealand news site Newsroom, Ardern, who was elected in October, recapped her recent visit to the East Asia Summit.

Best bit? A small serving for Trump.

“I was waiting to walk out to be introduced at the East Asia Summit gala dinner, where we all paraded and while we were waiting, Trump in jest patted the person next to him on the shoulder, pointed at me and said, ‘This lady caused a lot of upset in her country,’ talking about the election."

Then came Ardern's sick burn. After he repeated the comment, she quipped back that “no-one marched when I was elected."

BOOM.

Ardern goes on to say that Trump laughed the comment off, and that "he did not seem offended."

I mean, when someone's better at a handshake than you, perhaps it is best to let things go.

The interview also touches on the death of Paddles, if you care (you should, you monster). Ardern tells Newsroom that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe offered his condolences.

“Actually, I found that a really humanising moment: regardless of the jobs that we’re all doing and the intensity of the jobs that we’re doing, that he was just a human who recognised something sad in another human’s life, so that was kind of grounding.”

Alright, so it's a lovely moment and a sick burn. But remember, people, as much as things like this humanise them, elected officials are not your friends.
