Jamie Lynn Spears talks 'flirty' new single 'Sleepover' and plays Two Truths and a Lie

The 25-year-old country singer talks about the next phase of her career.

Jamie Lynn Spears is using 2016 to reintroduce herself, beginning with her confident new single, "Sleepover."

The cheery, cheeky country song -- her first release since 2014's EP The Journey -- finds the 25-year-old in a decidedly different, more carefree place than she was in her previous work, and Spears tells Mashable that's exactly the point.

"It's all kind of the theme of what I'm doing. I'm trying to embrace that side of myself," she said. "I'm trying to embrace that fun, young side of myself."

"It's the heart of who I am, but it's a different side of me," she says.

Jamie Lynn Spears did have to grow up rather quickly. For a while, she was defined -- in the media, at least -- by her pregnancy at age 16, when she was still the star of Nickelodeon's Zoey 101.

"I would be hard on myself, now I think I'm like, 'I need to relax a little bit,' " she said of her earlier days as a young mother. "I can let loose a little bit."

To get a better idea of who she is, Spears played a few rounds of "Two Truths and a Lie" with Mashable:
