'Jane the Virgin' boss breaks down that big moment from the latest episode
Monday night's episode of The CW's Jane the Virgin was a big one.
Not only did Petra gave birth to a pair of adorable, perfectly named twins (Elsa and Anna, natch), but Jane and Michael finally made their engagement official -- again.
And it really couldn't have happened in a better episode. At the start of "Chapter 36," Jane finds herself feeling delayed regret over her decision to break up with Michael months ago because as she saw it, had she not done so, much of the tension between her, Michael and Rafael would not exist.

Throughout the episode, her regret manifests in the form of "perfect," alternate-reality versions of her, Michael and Rafael. She comes to realize, however, with help from Petra, that everything happens for a reason and that it was time to let the past go.
Free from her guilt, she tells Michael that she's at peace with their history.
"I don't want to go back because we're better now and I want you to know that you're absolutely who I want," she says. "And I'm not going anywhere."
Neither is he, he says. That's when he drops to one knee.
Below, creator Jennie Snyder Urman takes us inside the scene that follows, which was a touching start to a new chapter in the tale of Michael and Jane, and explains how they crafted the memorable moment.
Jane the Virgin airs Mondays on the CW.
