For those still wondering what a merkin is following Jared Leto's 2016 Oscar appearance, no worries-- he's got you covered.

Leto brought up the humble merkin -- a cover of fake hair that actors sometimes wear over their pubic areas during nude scenes -- during his presenter speech for the Best Makeup and Hairstyling award. 

"But let's be honest, they deserve an award just for putting up with us actors. Not to mention the prosthetics-- the wigs, the occasional merkin," he said. "If you happen to be laughing, please explain it to the person next to you and if you aren't, Google it."
