As the Indians embark on their first World Series since 1997, they're lucky to have second baseman Jason Kipnis in the starting lineup.

Cleveland punched its ticket to the Fall Classic last Wednesday, when it beat the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Championship Series. For a team that hasn't won a World Series in more than 50 years, the Indians' celebration was understandably epic.

But good times weren't the only thing rolling that night.

Just after the Indians beat Toronto to clinch a World Series berth, Kipnis rolled his ankle while embracing Francisco Lindor.

Indians manager Terry Francona called it a low ankle sprain, but it won't keep Kipnis out of the starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs during the World Series.

Still, his ankle looks pretty gross.

The Indians have had their fair share of injuries this year, losing two of the team's best starting pitchers along the way. But those were common injuries, such as forearm strains or fractured hands.

Kipnis' celebration-induced ankle sprain marks the Indians' second freak injury this postseason.

Starting pitcher Trevor Bauer sliced his finger while repairing a drone and exited a game last week because he was bleeding all over the mound. Bauer is good to go now, though, and will start Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday.

Freak injuries won't stop the Indians.

Let's see if the Cubs will.
