It's not the first time the rapper has addressed Kaepernick in public.

They say actions speak louder than words. Jay Z's decision to wear a Colin K jersey on the 43rd season premiere of Saturday Night Live spoke volumes.

For the kickoff episode hosted by actor Ryan Gosling, the rapper performed two songs off his latest album, 4:44 — showing his support for professional NFL player Colin Kaepernick and others protesting police brutality and racial injustice in America during the national anthem with his choice of dress.

Jay Z first performed his song Bam alongside Damian Marley in front of a waving Ethiopian flag and camouflage backdrop. About halfway through the song, he turned to reveal that his number seven jersey -- which was Kap's number when he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers -- bore the name "Colin K."

Kaepernick, who first refused to stand for the national anthem over a year ago, parted ways with the 49ers back in March and has yet to be signed by another team. This is noteworthy because multiple NFL teams are in need of an upgrade at quarterback.

Since then, his actions have inspired dozens of other NFL players to protest during the anthem by kneeling, locking arms, or remaining in the locker room during the song. The protests recently gained the attention of Donald Trump, who feels strongly that coaches should fire anyone who doesn't show respect for America by standing.

Last month reports that Jay Z had declined an offer to perform the Super Bowl LII halftime show began to surface after he dedicated his song, "The Story of O.J.," to the NFL player and civil rights activist Dick Gergory during a New York concert.

"I want to dedicate this song to Colin Kaepernick tonight. I want to dedicate this song to Dick Gregory … I want to dedicate this song to anybody that was held back and you overcame whatever it was," the rapper said.

Jay Z finished off his SNL appearance by singing a heartfelt version of "I Apologize,” while wearing a plain white t-shirt, but his jersey certainly left quite an impression on viewers.

Way to take a stand, Jay.
