Sometimes, watching Jeffrey Lord talk up Donald Trump on CNN over the past two years, I got the sense that he was barely holding it together. His lips seem to curl up at the edges at times, a near smile, like he was thinking, "Wow, I can't believe how much I get paid to spew this rancid dumbassery."

As of Thursday, CNN will no longer pay Lord to spew said rancid dumbassery, after the pundit tweeted "Sieg Heil!" at a liberal activist that Lord had just called a Nazi.

CNN fired Lord, saying "Nazi salutes are indefensible" and giving the world a brief respite from his skull-melting drudgery, at least for the few hours before he pops up on Fox News or whatever other cable channel is willing to exchange money for him to again gnash his teeth in front of a camera.

Lord may not have realized he had put his cable punditry in jeopardy with that tweet, but a prescient Twitter user did.

Regardless of intent, indeed.

Lord will be missed like a ... never mind, he won't be, but we can still laugh at the time Anderson Cooper said Lord would defend Trump "if he took a dump on his desk."

Lol, right?

Look, we agree.
