Jennifer Garner has finally filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after nearly two years of separation and countless vaping paparazzi photos and memes evoking Simon & Garfunkel.

The couple initially announced their separation in June 2015 when Obama was president and people were looking forward to Suicide Squad. Affleck as Batman still seemed like a pretty bad idea, though, because we were never quite that innocent.

The couple announced the dissolution of their decade-long marriage following Affleck's deeply cliche affair with their kids' nanny.

But the actual divorce never came and the former couple was occasionally seen on cordial family outings with their three children. Affleck completed a stint in rehab for alcoholism and some fans speculated that the Pearl Harbor and Daredevil co-stars might actually make it after all.

If we've learned anything from history, though, it's that a Bennifer is not forever. And we don't need Ben Affleck as Batman.
