JetBlue is bringing more connectivity to the cabins of its Airbus A320 aircraft.

Power outlets and USB ports will be available at all seats, bringing an end to powering down while onboard to save battery. Flights will also feature complimentary Wi-Fi, which the airline calls Fly-Fi.

The carrier will begin transforming the cabins of its 130 A320 aircraft (out of a total fleet of 216) in early 2017, with the goal of revamping the entire fleet by 2019.

“Our customers don’t want to switch off when they take off, so we are continuing to build on our investment in Fly-Fi,” Jamie Perry, vice president brand and product development, said in a statement.

Seatback screens will nearly double in size to 10 inches, and what's available on the screens will also change.

The new entertainment system, which runs on the Google Android platform, will feature custom apps, live streaming, audio and video on demand and the ability to pair personal devices.

JetBlue will also expand the amount of DirecTV channels from 36 to more than 100; a library of 300 films and TV shows will be available on demand.

The new cabins will have LED cabin mood lighting, ergonomic seating and free snacks. The upgrades put JetBlue in line with competitor Virgin America.

“Travel preferences have changed in the last 15 years, and we’re investing in what customers want today," Perry said. "Our new cabin, combined with our award-winning customer service, is a powerful way for us to once again challenge the status quo.”
