J.J. Watt went to football practice amid dangerous Houston flood, because J.J. Watt

See, now this is exactly the kind of thing that gets NFL star J.J. Watt labeled a "try hard."

Houston faced historic flooding that shut down much of the city after a downpour of biblical proportions Monday. But J.J. Watt didn't care. No, J.J. Watt went to Houston Texans' headquarters to GET THAT WORK IN anyway.

Then Watt posted some photos of himself GETTING THAT WORK IN at the Texans' facility -- because no days off, you know? No grind, no shine. Grinders keepers. Grind over matter. He's got his grind on his money, and his money on his grind. Anyway -- we digress.

Watt went to the facility to GET THAT WORK IN after a public request by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner that everyone but essential city employees stay home for the sake of public safety and the greater good. The Texans had also reportedly closed their facilities for the day.

But this is J.J. Watt, and J.J. Watt GETS THAT WORK IN. J.J. Watt even GETS THAT WORK IN when GETTING THAT WORK IN in goes against the advice of public safety officials, could lead to bodily harm and could even divert precious resources away from other emergencies amid the storm.

At least, that last bit paraphrases a line of criticism leveled Watt's way after he made those social media posts of himself GETTING THAT WORK IN. Tone-deaf at best and arrogant at worst, went the thinking.

But do you really think J.J. Watt's just going to sit idly by while a bunch of whiners and bloggers and whiny bloggers overanalyze him GETTING THAT WORK IN? Hell to the No.

In fact, Watt didn't just blast the reaction to his Monday practice session -- he decided to deliver a broader message about the state of sports journalism. Other recent reports had the 27-year-old Texans star dating actress Kate Hudson and contemplating an early retirement.

Hear that, everyone? "Stop making stories out of non-stories," a demand to which there was only one logical response.

Pretty much. Sorry, J.J., it all comes with the territory -- unless you want to return that six-year, $100 million contract extension you signed in 2014.
