LONDON -- J.K. Rowling has been incredibly vocal throughout the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, and the night of the election was no exception.

As a Trump win becoming more and more of a reality -- and was eventually confirmed -- Rowling kept herself busy on Twitter in two ways: comforting worried fans, and casually annihilating any troll who made the bad mistake of crossing her.

It started when she posted the following tweet, shortly before polls began to close.

Her tweet was shared more than 55,000 times and favourited over 125,000 times. But it also drew the attention of pro-Trump Twitter trolls.

Luckily, Rowling doesn't let trolls faze her.

As the night continued, Rowling kept the shut downs coming.

In the hours before Trump was confirmed as president, Rowling's fans began tweeting at her to say how scared they were about what it might mean -- and Rowling took the time out to reply to them individually with words of comfort.

And while Rowling was busy comforting people, she also kept up the troll-bashing.

As the night continued, some people tweeted at her to argue it wasn't worth giving the trolls any attention. But Rowling had other ideas.

In response, she launched into a sequence of tweets explaining why, in her experience, simply ignoring trolls "doesn't work."

At the time of writing, Rowling is still busy annihilating trolls. According to this tweet, she's only had 15 minutes sleep.
