Joey Graceffa announces new YA book set in a dystopia
LOS ANGELES -- Joey Graceffa is tapping into the YA space.
The YouTube star announced Thursday the launch of his first fiction book Children of Eden, which is set in a dystopia.
“It's kind of based off of where I foresee our world going to, which is self-destruction," Graceffa said in his announcement video (above).

This is Graceffa's second book, following the success of his 2015 memoir In Real Life: My Journey to a Pixelated World.
He came up with the idea after wrapping his YouTube series Storytellers, though he initially thought it would work better as a film concept.
"Hopefully this will be one of those cases where my book will eventually become a movie," he said in the video. "That’s the dream, that’s the goal.”
The book is the latest creative endeavor for Graceffa, who has become one of YouTube's biggest stars with 6.2 million subscribers to his channel.
He recently released a YouTube Red series called Escape the Night, launched a new line of crystals called Crystal Wolf and was tapped as one of the celebrity models for Nordstrom's anniversary sale.
As Mashable reported last year, young fans from the digital-first generation are racing to stores to pick up the latest titles published by the #TeamInternet community (including books from Grace Helbig, Miranda Sings and Tyler Oakley), a phenomenon that's led the publishing industry to openly embrace the digital space.
Some publishers have even created imprints dedicated to digital stars. Other players, including studios like The Weinstein Co. and multi-channel network AwesomenessTV, have also joined the fray by launching their own publishing divisions focused on YouTube creators. Most recently, HarperCollins’s HarperOne division announced the launch of a new, digital-first imprint called HarperLegend.
Keywords Press/Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster founded in partnership with UTA, will release Graceffa's book.
On Thursday, the book already ranked as one of Amazon's No. 1 New Release. The book is available to pre-order in the U.S., U.K., and Australia on Graceffa's website.
