Ever since TBS aired an episode of Full Frontal in which Samantha Bee called Ivanka Trump a "feckless cunt," celebrities and politicians have weighed in on Bee's comments. Jon Stewart, who worked with Bee for years on The Daily Show, weighed in briefly on Sunday to explain that criticism of Bee is all part of a plan.

“Please understand that a lot of what the right does, and it’s maybe their greatest genius, is they’ve created a code of conduct that they police, that they themselves don’t have to, in any way, abide,” Stewart said.

"It’s a game, it’s a strategy, and it’s working," he added.

When Stewart referenced that game, that strategy, he was referring to the narrative of victimhood and false equivalency perpetrated by many conservatives, the mindset that leads to comparison's between Roseanne Barr's overt racism and Bee using a dirty word.

“Don’t get caught in a trap of thinking you can live up to a code of integrity that will be enough for the propagandist right. There isn’t," Stewart said at Clusterfest in San Francisco. "And so, create your own moral code to live by, but don’t be fooled into trying to make concessions that you think will mollify them.”

Bee's use of the word "cunt" was probably of minimal importance to the White House, Stewart said.

The Daily Beast pointed out Trump's own history of using the word to disrespect women. There's also the old "grab 'em by the pussy" recording to indicate that the moral code of language is probably not what irked his administration.

“They don’t give a shit about the word ‘cunt,’” Stewart said. “That is probably—he says that instead of ‘please,’ I’m guessing.”
