'I'm a footballer and I'm gay.' Josh Cavallo becomes only current openly gay male professional footballer
"I'm a footballer and I'm gay." These are the words spoken by Australian footballer Josh Cavallo in a video posted by his club Adelaide United.
The midfielder is the only current male professional soccer player in the world to have come out as gay, according to the BBC.
"Growing up I always felt the need to hide myself because I was ashamed," Cavallo explains in the video posted on Twitter on Wednesday. "Ashamed I'd never be able to do what I love and be gay. Hiding who I truly am to pursue a dream I always wished for as a kid."
