Indian town gets a midnight visit from a group of Asiatic lions
The Indian town of Junagadh had some unexpected visitors earlier this week. One of the residents has made a video of a pride of at least eight Asiatic lions walking in a residential area in the middle of the night, which has since gone viral.
Junagadh is located just two kilometres away from the boundary of the Girnar Wildlife Sanctuary, which houses 45 lions. Wildlife experts say that it is common to find lions trespassing into the town as their population grows.
The pride spotted a couple of days ago included at least three lionesses and their cubs, who were seen strolling on a four-lane road 3.5 km inside the town. The areas that they walked through are heavily-populated and house schools, hospitals and residences.
