Elden Ring is a challenge in and of itself that's been the fantasy game of choice for gamers since its debut. Part of the FromSoftware "Souls" series, it's known for its brutal difficulty, imaginative worldbuilding, disturbing creatures, and nuanced combat. It might not be for everyone, but for those who embrace it and its darkness, it makes for an immersive good time with some of the finest in-game lore you'll find in a Western action-adventure game.
Shadow of the Erdtree is the game's first expansion, and it will take players on a lengthy quest with hours of additional content. It's currently up for preorder and will arrive on all platforms Friday.
