It's over, guys. Justice League has finally ended its domestic box office run and it's now officially the lowest grossing film in the DC Extended Universe.

Director Zack Snyder's multi-hero blockbuster starring Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Flash, the antithesis to Marvel's Avengers, made $229 million at the U.S. box office since opening in November 2017.

The film couldn't top Man of Steel, next rung up, which made $291 million at the U.S. box office. DC's top domestic grossing film to date is the unbeatable Wonder Woman, which hit $412 million — and notably, it came out only months before Justice League and probably should have harnessed more of a guaranteed flow-over audience than it did.

Justice League was even $100 million behind both Suicide Squad, in third place making $325 million domestic, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in second place at $330 million.

At the international box office, the film is also in last place at a total of $657 million. Batman v Superman is the highest performer internationally at $873 million (Wonder Woman at $821 million).

DC's next film to be released will be the James Wan-directed breakout Aquaman on Dec. 21 2018, before Patty Jenkins returns with Wonder Woman 2 on Nov. 1, 2019.

DC has also just announced A Wrinkle in Time director Ava DuVernay for DC's film version of The New Gods, so perhaps there's room for improvement up ahead. Pay no attention to that formidable rumbling up ahead.
