First 'Justice League' footage delivers Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman action

Director Zack Snyder sent shockwaves through the comic book geek universe on Saturday by dropping the first trailer for the Justice League movie on his Twitter account.

The trailer shows off every member of the Justice League in action, including Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). Most of the action focuses on Batman in Bruce Wayne mode recruiting the various members of the team, which leads to a few very cool demonstrations of superpowers, most notably from The Flash.

Also, during a Comic-Con panel on Saturday, the team behind the film debuted a poster (below) of the assembled Justice Leaguers.

Fans of The Avengers film franchise will immediately recognize parallels between the series during the trailer's scene in which The Flash first meets Batman. Easily the most eager of all the recruits, it's hard not to compare the trailer's Flash meeting with Batman to the moment in the latest Avengers film when Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) first meets Spiderman (Tom Holland).

Marvel vs. DC comparisons aside, the trailer is packed with action and doesn't seem as dark as the latest installment in the DC universe (Batman v Superman). That relief from bleakness may be a welcome change for some critics who thought Snyder's last DC superhero movie was too visually and tonally brooding.

Justice League isn't slated to hit theaters until 2017, but this brief preview, posted during Comic-Con for maximum impact, will definitely get fans excited to see the team in action.
