Is it too late for Biebs to say sorry?

Justin Bieber has canceled the last set of shows for his Purpose World Tour, according to a press release issued Monday.

The statement cites "unforeseen circumstances" as the reason behind the cancellation.

"Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them," the release said. "He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months."

The statement adds that Bieber is "grateful and honored" for the performances he did during the tour. "However, after careful consideration he has decided he will not be performing any further dates."

The news comes on the heels of an announcement that China has banned Bieber from performing because he's too "controversial." The cancellation also comes just one week after Bieber announced that several stars would be joining him on tour, including Vic Mensa and Migos.

Bieber had been scheduled to perform in several states of the U.S. during late July and August before heading to Canada in September and then on to Asia. Tickets to the shows will be refunded at point of purchase.

Online, people were seriously unhappy about the cancellation.

Others expressed concern for the pop star, who's been involved in a series of incidents in the last year, including smacking a fan in the mouth, bar fights and reckless driving.

It's unclear if any recent incidents are related to the tour's cancellation.
