It appears Justin Bieber has a beef with *checks notes* Tom Cruise? Hmm. That's a new one.

On Sunday, the 25-year-old singer challenged the Mission Impossible star to a fight in "the octagon" via Twitter, and though Bieber failed to tag Cruise's Twitter handle, he explained that if he doesn't agree to the brawl he will be seen as "scared" and "will never live it down."

Bieber even went so far as to ask the internet who would be willing to put on the fight, and tagged UFC president Dana White, who has yet to respond.

It's unclear why exactly Bieber wants to fight Cruise at this time, but UFC champ Conor McGregor has offered to "host the bout" if White's not willing.

"Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out" McGregor tweeted before challenging Mark Wahlberg to a fight because why the hell not?

As the confused people of Twitter await some clarity, they're turning to jokes for comfort. Some are meme-ing Bieber's challenge to Cruise, while others are actually taking the time to imagine what a fight between the two would be like. And some brave souls like Mario Lopez took an opportunity to correct Bieber's incorrect use of "your."

Perhaps Bieber simply watched a movie starring Cruise, saw a fight scene, and thought, "Hey, I could take him." Or perhaps for some strange reason Bieber searched Tom Cruise's past tweets for his own name and stumbled upon these gems, which appear to show Cruise complaining about how many Twitter users have "Bieber" in their names.

It's possible nothing will come of the fight, especially since everyone keeps forgetting to actually TAG Cruise in their tweets. Hours before tweeting the invitation to fight, the singer announced "More music coming" and wished all his followers a "Happy Sunday," so maybe he'll get distracted by his music.

Stay tuned for updates, and in the mean time let's all try to fight less on Twitter.
