There's a gold statue of Kanye West as Jesus in Los Angeles now, and that seems right
Yeezus Christ, there's a gold statue of Kanye West posed as the son of God on the cross in Los Angeles.
West stands on his tip toes in what may or may not be Yeezys upon a pedestal reading "False Idol" -- a nod to J Cole's apparent Kanye diss track -- looking a lot like an Oscar statue just days ahead of the Academy Awards.
The piece is the work of Plastic Jesus, an anonymous street artist who shared a couple process shots on Instagram.
The artist, who has been focusing on anti-Trump artwork lately, so it makes sense that West would be a target following his tumultuous pro-Trump phase.
“Kanye is a genius. He is a brilliant writer and producer, but we’ve built him up to a god-like idol,” Plastic Jesus tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Look at what happened to him at the end of last year when he went into a mental facility suffering from anxiety, stress and, I think, depression.”
Plastic Jesus shared some more insight into the piece on Twitter last week.

His Oscar statues are an annual thing, providing commentary on Hollywood's ills of the moment.
"False Idol" will be on display this weekend at Gibson Brands Sunset, the former Tower Records building.
