To live a life free of macros is a life we're jealous of.

You might remember Kelly Rowland getting angry with Nelly over a text message written in Microsoft Excel on a Nokia 9290 Communicator, as per the video for the 2002 hit "Dilemma."

The moment has been endlessly brought up over and over again on the internet as the years have gone by, because it's just that bizarre.

You've probably long wondered why the mistake happened in the first place, and now we might know why. Talking on TV show The Real, the singer said she doesn't know of the spreadsheet program.

"I don't know what Microsoft Excel is," she said. "So when I saw all these memes I was like, I don't care." Lucky her.

The revelation even prompted a response from the Microsoft Excel Twitter account (yes, there is such a thing).

In an interview with Australian TV show The Project in 2016, Nelly joked that it was "the thing at the time."

"That was the new technology at the time ... It looks a little dated now, I can see that," he added.

Elsewhere on the internet, people talked about the luxury of not worrying about Excel, or even knowing what it is. What a life, hey.
