Dude gets his drone to deliver him fried chicken

Looks cool, but...

When I'm craving fried chicken from a certain Kentucky-themed fast food outlet, I sure as hell don't want to run into anyone I know -- and sadly delivery doesn't exist where I live.

That's why it might be worth admiring the efforts of New Zealander Ollie Mason-Clarke, who's behind the blog King of Cheat Meals.

He managed to get a drone to pick up a meal from a KFC drive-thru in Auckland, which we've all dreamt about but never had the guts -- or well, the aptitude -- to do.

Mason-Clarke told the New Zealand Herald it wasn't a marketing stunt, but rather a "fun project" he wanted to do.

A spokesperson for Restaurant Brands told the newspaper that Mason-Clarke had worked with "KFC's ops team, health and safety manager and store manager to ensure safety of staff and customers during filming."

"It's a cleverly constructed and fun piece of fan-made content by the King of Cheat Meals," the spokesperson said.

It's no mean feat considering just how many rules and regulations there are to adhere to.

For example, drive-thru staff are forbidden from serving customers that aren't in vehicles (trust me, I've tried). And under New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations, the use of a flying drone is forbidden, but allowed if permission was sought from the people the drone is flying over.

Eugh, you know what, perhaps dealing with public embarrassment would be easier than the paperwork of trying to get a drone to pick up food.
