Boy receives over 1,000 birthday cards after no one shows to his party
The Internet banded together to create a special birthday for a young boy after no one showed up to his party.
Nine-year-old Gerald Hamilton celebrated his birthday on April 2, however out of the 12 classmates who said they were coming, none of them showed up, ABC News reports.

Disappointed, Gerald's grandmother, Amelia Lara, vented on Facebook, and decided that she was going to make his birthday special, despite his party.
"It is my mission to have as many cards as I can mailed to my little guy," Lara wrote on Facebook.
Lara explained that Gerald has had medical problems since birth, and had to undergo five surgeries in order to expand his skull.
"My grandson who is in second grade and has had at least five skull expansion surgeries, is slower then the other kids in his class," Lara wrote on Facebook. "However, he is the kindest, most compassionate kid I know."
Lara says that when her daughter confronted the other children's parents, asking them why they didn't show up, they said it was because Gerald was too different.
Since posting on Facebook on April 4, Gerald has received over 1,000 cards and gifts from people all over the world. The post has been shared over 4,000 times at the time of writing.
"We talked about it [with Gerald]," Lara told ABC News. "It's going to come to an end, but this just shows you that there are good, kind, compassionate people out there who care and who want you to have a good birthday."
