Kid Rock will no longer serve as Grand Marshal for the Nashville Christmas parade. That honor now goes to James Shaw Jr., local hero of the Antioch Waffle House shooting.

Organizers didn't cite Kid Rock's recent comments about Joy Behar, but chose instead to highlight Shaw's heroism and focus on the positives.

The 65th Nashville Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1 will not feature Kid Rock, who had previously volunteered to serve as its Grand Marshal. Parade organizers feel that the grand marshal should personify the spirit of the Nashville community and have invited James Shaw, Jr., who became a community hero after stopping a shooting at a local Waffle House earlier this year, to be honored. The parade is a fun family tradition that also raises money for worthy charitable causes. We appreciate the hundreds of community volunteers who are working hard to make this year’s parade another great event.

According to WSMV, a local NBC News affiliate, Nashville's mayor expressed reservations about attending the parade if Kid Rock were part of it. Meanwhile, local business owner Steve Smith firmly rejected of the change, asking that the parade refund his donation or keep Kid Rock in the proceedings.

Shaw, an electrical technical, achieved internet stardom after he confronted a gunman during an April 2018 shooting at a Tennessee Waffle House that left four dead. Many believe that his heroics kept more people from dying that day.

Shaw teased his parade gig in a Friday tweet alluding to some big news. He then confirmed it a few hours later.
