We can't think of anything sweeter than a bunch of elementary school kids putting together a children's book to create awareness and help save endangered animals.

This group of students are fifth graders at the John W. Kimball Learning Center in Brooklyn, New York. The book they've just gotten published is called One Special Orangutan: The Story of Budi.

According to the International Animal Rescue (IAR), the kids spent months writing and illustrating the book.

The book is written from the first person perspective of Budi, a baby orangutan who was rescued from captivity in West Borneo back in 2014. Budi was found by rescuers locked in a wooden chicken cage and seriously ill from months of neglect.

On top of sharing Budi's story, the book also includes information on the threats towards the survival of Indonesian orangutans and what other children can do to help.

One Special Orangutan: The Story of Budi is the third book in a series created by students at the school to teach them and other children about wildlife conservation. The first two books published were about a Sumatran rhino and African elephant.

All proceeds from the sale of the new book will go to IAR. You can purchase it from Amazon.
