In a very uncool move, the mural of Kim Kardashian's nude selfie in Melbourne has been vandalised.

The three-storey Kardashian mural was found on Tuesday morning with smatterings of paint and the word "slut" written onto it. Artist lushsux posted a shot of the act on Instagram, writing this is why we can't have nice things.

The painting of Kim Kardashian's now-infamous naked selfie was painted over the weekend. It received a lot of attention and is in a public place, so it's unsurprising it would eventually be the target of vandals. But writing the word "slut"? How charming.

"Mark Walls," who lushsux chooses to identify him or herself as, told Mashable Australia via email that the vandalism occurred overnight.

"No leads on who did it, but a local council member did happen to come and inform the owner of the building he had received a volume of complaints, mostly due to the word 'SLUT' sprayed across the mural," Walls said. The mystery continues.

Deride her or admire her, Kim Kardashian has been winning fans due to her forthright response to the slut shamers and body shamers she has faced since posting the nude selfies.

Talking about positivity and empowerment in a blog post, Kardashian is totally being cool with sharing these kinds of images if it helps other girls and women be happy with their bodies.

I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world.

The Internet war over Kardashian's body has now taken to the streets, and boy, it is as ugly as ever.

UPDATE: March 15, 2016, 4:15 p.m. AEDT Added comments from the mural's artist, "lushsux."
