2 more knife attacks in Taipei, a day after grisly toddler decapitation
Just a day after the shocking murder of a 4-year-old child in Taipei, two more violent knife attacks have occurred in the normally peaceful capital of Taiwan.
A police officer was stabbed in the head on Tuesday while patrolling the Xinbeitou subway station in northern Taipei, said local reports.
The officer was sent to the emergency ward with serious wounds on his head and back, including a 3 cm slash on his head.

Other policemen subdued the assailant, a 28-year-old man surnamed Zhan, who is currently held in custody. In his testimony given at the station later, the man said he hated the police, but did not offer additional motives for the attack.
The China Times reports that Zhan is unemployed with no prior criminal record. His medical history states that he's been treated for psychiatric issues, but is not undergoing treatment at present.
Pest control worker slashed
In a separate knifing incident on the same day, a 48-year-old pest control worker, surnamed Huang, was wounded when a 23-year-old man attacked him with a saw.
Huang was working at the Shulin district just outside of Taipei city. He escaped with a 5 cm slash to his left wrist, and was sent to the hospital.
The attacker told the police later he was trying to "protect the cockroaches."
